AFSC joins Social Security discussion with the Administration

October 11, 2007
AFSC joins conference call with Phillip Swagel, Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy, for a discussion on the second in a series of Social Security papers from the Treasury Department, entitled "Social Security Reform: A Framework for Analysis."

The paper poses four questions that must be addressed by any Social Security reform plan relating to fairness across and within generations, the size of Social Security's "safety net," and the role of pre-funding future benefits.

AFSC also has the Treasury Department's first issue brief, entitled "Social Security Reform: The Nature of the Problem" available for readers.
